Neenah-Nodaway Racing Fleet

The purpose of the Neenah-Nodaway Racing Fleet is to create and maintain our own local handicapping system which participants will think is fair.  In order to accomplish this goal a committee of knowledgeable sailors has been formed to assign handicaps and adjust numbers for our fleet.  The system also allows redress if one feels that they have been treated unfairly or if they feel that a competitor has an unfair advantage.  The committee may reserve the right to inspect any boat that has come under question in either the plus or minus column.

One design boats will be handicapped with known and published numbers as long as there have been no modifications. In addition the committee will also consider handicap certificates if presented.   It is required that all racing yachts conform to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.  In addition all yachts over 16’ LOA shall carry an appropriate anchor with an attached line of at least 100’.

The first step in making our system work is for each Skipper to fill out the handicap form as accurately as possible.  If you are unsure of something it needs to be brought to the attention of our committee.  Please send completed forms or questions to secretary@nnyc.org
