| I wonder if there would be any men in the club that would like to go in together and rent a sailboat in the Florida keys for a week this winter.
I am retired and my wife isn't much of a sailor but she said i could go.
I know where we could rent a 40 footer for about $1500 per week.If we share expenses it could be an inexpensive trip. If interested call Ed Peters @ 920-738-0428 appleton. |

| Hello NNYC. I found this site by accident. I haven't been to Neenah in over 15 years. I miss sailing in Neenah in the 1970s and 1980s, My parent's had a 29 foot sailboat. I raced Xs, M-16s, J24s, Flting Scotts, and E-Scows. Those were the days. I miss the Tuesday night races, Saturday class races, etc. my fondest sailing memories of my life are back in Neenah. And, I ran the Race Committee in 1988. If you see my name and remember me, please send a note. I'm in Chicago now. Kind Regards, John Braun (JB). |

| Wow...I'm writing my fifth book, and doing a chapter on my sailing experiences...to be accurate about the early years, I googled Neenah Nodaway Yacht Club and found your wonderful site. I have such fond memories of my early experiences, rolling the oldest Cub X in the fleet, "Criket" to the docks each year (starting in 1955?) after caulking her monstrous seams, watching her sink, bailing her out and then sailing the season. I remember crewing an A scow when I was 10, which hooked me forever...in 1963 after a round-robin for the Adams challenge, we raced one of the first M-20s on Lake Geneva, which we won to go on to the Detroit Yacht Club for the semi-finals. I remember Margaret Baldwin was one of my crew members. We placed third, sailing my first keel boat. About 1964-65, I taught sailing in the X class boats for the NNYC. I raced collegiately, then did some ocean racing after moving to Fort Lauderdale in the late 60s. I now have a Cape Dory 25 and live at Staniel Cay in the Exumas, Bahamas, a tiny island that boasts the Annual New Year's Cruising Regatta, which I participate in as often as possible. Sailing has always been part of my life, and it all started as a kid in Neenah. Hi to all who remember me...I noticed a few old (we are now!) friends on this list. If you want, go to my website (www.mwpr.com) and have some fun. My book "Chaos to Serenity," will be out in 2008. |

| Thank you for your wonderful site, it brings back fond memories of friendships and exciting competition. I grew up in the harbor in the sixties and the knowledge and experience gained at NNYC carried me to Lake Michigan and the Atlantic. Thanks again. |

| Thank you for the inexpensive summer lessons I took in 1981. That was 9th grade. Today I live in the beautiful City of Chicago; sailing is my number one hobbie. My ten years of racing include four races to Mackinac Island. |

| You bring back many memories. My sailing in the 50's started racing an X and then a D scow. I enjoyed many local wins, and as a woman with limited competition, "Best Woman" sailor of a few seasons. Also sailed in many regattas. Sailing and the friendships enjoyed made Neenah a very special place to grow up. I miss being near lakes now, but will always remember NNYC. |

| My brother Mark told me about your great site. I enjoyed the history and pictures. I remember not being a good sailor as skipper of an X boat, Sea Biscuit. I had to be towed in by the starting boat after each race. I had never completed even one of the two rounds of the coarse. A big storm capsized my boat (turtled) and we were brought in on the police boat. I rented my boat to my crew, Helen Johnson, who won trophies the next year. I should have let her tell me how to sail! The history never mentioned my sister, Margaret Baldwin , who won 16 trophies on her 16th year in our family's D scow with U-2 on the sail. (I can't remember the name.) I am happy to see NNYC is still keeping families busy and wet and tired. The 4th was the best in Neenah. My Dad, George started the boat parade and won the first time, with "Neenah the Sports Capital". My siblings all dressed for a sporting event.I was in a baseball uniform on the top of our inboard motor box. I loved the games in Riverside Park and the fun of good friendships on a hot summer day. |

| I haven't been to Neenah in many years. Reading the History brought back so many memories. I remember the Catlins from Florida and Neenah. Hello Geof! These days I vacation in North Carolina's Outer Banks and am thinking the scows would be really great in the bays there -- much wind, shallow with smallish waves. I would love one day to ride an A. We did D's when my family was in Neenah. My sister Margaret, a D winner in the early 60's, gives her best regards to all. |
